The Green Choice
AMTech is first and foremost the Green Choice. Lime that settles in machines, on heating elements etc. costs incredible amounts of extra energy every day. Likewise, scale in machines reduces the lifespan, which means that far too much is thrown out far too soon. With an AMTech Limescale Crusher, the lime in the water will have such a fine structure that these problems are avoided. Machines last longer, heaters need less energy, the energy used to pump water through the pipes is reduced, chemicals for deacidification are saved and much more.
The Norwegian Institute of Technology has prepared a report that maps the extent of the problems with limescale in water installations. Here it is quoted:
"Precipitation of lime, which settles as hard crystal forms, is a phenomenon that has caused many difficulties throughout the ages. The places where the problem is particularly evident are:
- Coatings in pipes leading to lower water flow capacity and greater pump performance.
- Coatings on hot surfaces leading to energy loss and destruction of installations.
- Coatings on taps, valves, shower heads and nozzles leading to their destruction.
- Coatings on tiles and utility items leading to a lower utility value.
- Coatings on textile fibers leading to lower utility value.
- Coatings which form a base for bacteria leading to bacterial liquid (biofouling).
In the dairy industry, it is believed that deacidification of containers, pipes and heat exchangers alone costs the industry DKK 10 million. DKK annually. In another company, which has installed 5 cooling towers, approx. DKK 200,000 annually for chemicals to deacidify lime alone. In addition, for every 1 °C the temperature can be improved, there is an electricity saving of 3%.
In homes, it seems to be about the appliances that are connected to the domestic water supply, where lime has a problematic influence. Limescale shortens the life of equipment for heating domestic hot water, washing machines and dishwashers, pipes and fittings at the same time as the efficiency of the equipment deteriorates, so energy consumption increases, see figure 1. Chemicals are used for cleaning sanitary ware and tiles as well as descaling equipment , which are often not particularly environmentally friendly. These conditions give the user increased financial expenses and, not least, annoying inconveniences in everyday life.
It costs 6 times as much energy to pump 12 liters of water per minute through a ø20 mm pipe with 3 mm lime coatings rather than a pipe without coating, figure 1. Often there is not enough pressure available and the result is a quantity of water.
In heat exchangers, the thermal conductivity is reduced if there are lime deposits on the pipes or the exchange plates. In Table 1 there is a comparison of the thermal conductivity of lime coating and biofilm and a number of different materials and liquids. As can be seen, a lime coating's ability to conduct heat is approximately 20 times less than that of iron, 100 times that of aluminum and 125 times less than that of copper.
Below you can see the effect a lime coating has on the heat transfer in a copper pipe placed in a heat exchanger. The result appears in Figure 3.

It can be seen from figure 3 that even a thin layer of lime causes a significant deterioration of the heat conduction ability. It is therefore necessary that the plates and pipes in a heat exchanger are constantly kept clean, which typically happens by deacidification."

6. Clean water and sanitation
Access to clean water, or the lack of it, is still a problem in large parts of the world, but here at home we are also using more and more resources to ensure high water quality.
With an AMTech device, we avoid using chemicals or adding salt to the water. This means that fewer resources are used at the treatment plants.
12. Responsible consumption and production
One of humanity's big problems is our overconsumption. This overconsumption happens partly because we buy too much new, but also because what we buy has a short lifespan.
An AMTech unit, in addition to being built to last for 8 years+, also helps to extend the life of your white goods. One of the biggest reasons for the short lifespan of white goods is that the heating elements are covered by a thick layer of limescale, which causes a short circuit and a significant overconsumption of power. This is not the case when using an AMTech unit.
13. Climate action
Today, the toothbrush, the door phone, sports watches and our kitchen utensils use electricity. They didn't do that 100 years ago. Therefore, it is important to think about your energy consumption and buy products that do not use an unnecessary amount of power.
An AMTech unit, in addition to having an efficient energy consumption, also helps to ensure that your appliances use less energy. When the scale is not a problem, your units save the energy they normally used to heat the layer of scale that settles on the heating elements. In addition, approx. 10% extra power on your hot water tank per etc. lime that has settled on the inside of the container.
14. Life below water
The sea is a living ecosystem in perfect balance, and although the seas can withstand a lot, humans have clearly left their mark on life here.
With an AMTech device, you can reduce your soap consumption by approx. 30% and still get the same fine result, because the washing machine does not have to fight with the stubborn scale. At company level, this can have a major impact on the use of cleaning agents in all guises. Something that will have a positive influence on our waste water.
