Problems with limescale in the water
The high lime content in the groundwater presents housing associations and households everywhere in Denmark with major financial and environmental challenges. For ordinary households, this is most often expressed in limescaled machines and bathrooms.
For housing associations, there can also be other consequences associated with lime in the water.
Weak water pressure
If there are problems with low pressure on the shower or a sluggish stream of water from the tap, this may be due to limescale in the water pipes. Over time, limescale can settle inside water pipes, almost like a hard stone that prevents the water from flowing through. In addition to irritations caused by weak water pressure in the property, it can also have financial consequences.
In the article from the Institute of Technology: "Investigation into physical water treatment for solving limescale problems in water installations" the consequences of limescale in water pipes were examined. It was found, among other things, that it costs 6 times as much energy to pump 12 liters of water per minute through a 20 mm pipe with 3 mm lime coatings as it does with a pipe without coatings.
Deterioration of thermal conductivity
In the same article from the Technological Institute, the influence of lime in the water pipes on the thermal conductivity was also investigated. The result was clear: even a thin layer of lime causes a significant deterioration in thermal conductivity.
Repairs of valves and pipes
Accumulation of limescale in pipes and valves can cause problems to such an extent that it must be removed. This is most often done with chemicals that are harmful to the environment. Limescale Crusher for housing associations
The larger Limescale Crusher models consist of a computer unit in a metal cabinet, which controls one or more impulse blocks that are mounted on the outside of the water pipes. The pulses change the orbital direction of the electrons in the water's hydrogen atoms.
